The modern era of orthopedics has been a big leap from traditional methods to more contemporary methods, including the Thermoplastic Splint.
Thermoplastic splints are a new type of lower extremity orthoses that is lightweight, resilient, and easily fit into normal shoes. This makes it a great option for those with lower extremity injuries or those who have trouble getting out of bed or getting around.
Thermoplastic splint sheets are made from thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), which is a polymer derived from natural rubber. TPU is distinct from other plastic materials because it can be repeatedly remolded without any loss in strength and it does not elapse into any toxic substance during use.
