Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced the proposal for NRA (National Recruitment Agency) in the Union Budget 2020 with a vision to simplify the recruitment process for non-gazette posts in central government and public sector banks.HOW NRA-CET REFORMS THE SELECTION PROCESS At present, around 2.5-3 crores candidates aspiring to work with the central government or public sector banks have to appear for separate examinations based on the department or designation.
Different types of recruiting agencies conduct these selection tests.NRA will conduct a Common Eligibility Test (CET) to screen the candidates at a preliminary level for SSC, IBPS, and RRB.This computer-based online examination will select the eligible candidates for – Group-B (non-gazette), Group-C (non-technical), and clerical posts in central government Equivalent positions in public sector banks.
It saves them time and money for the applicants.
There is a common portal for registration with numerous centers to choose from.
At present, the candidates have to pay the exam-conducting authorities for issues related to security, law-and-order, and venue.
Thus, candidates from rural or remote areas can easily come to the examination center.Multilingual ApproachCET is currently available in 12 languages intending to include all languages in the 8th Schedule of The Constitution.Common Standard of Final ExamThe curriculum for the final selection test for SSC, RRB, or IBPS will be common making it easier for the candidates to prepare for the exams.No Limitation on Number of AttemptsA candidate’s CET score is valid for three years (starting from the date of the result).
