The Mumbai Indians have won five IPL titles in the last 15 seasons, making them the most successful team in the league's history. The Indians, on the other hand, have had a shaky start to the 15th edition of the lucrative tournament, losing all six of their first six games.

Despite having players like Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishan Kishan, and Suryakumar Yadav in their roster, the Indians have fallen short of their potential. On Saturday, the Mumbai Indians were upset by the Lucknow Super Giants in a high-scoring thriller. According to cricket betting websites, there are lots of people who still have faith in MI to reach the top four positions.

In the second innings, Lucknow restricted Mumbai to 181/9 in 20 overs. Dewald Brevis, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Kieran Pollard all got off to a good start but couldn't turn it into something significant. Brevis hit 31 runs off 13 balls, SKY 37 runs off 27 balls, Varma 26 runs off the same number of balls, and Pollard 25 runs off 14 balls. Lucknow's Avesh Khan grabbed three wickets, with Ravi Bishnoi, Marcus Stoinis, Jason Holder, and Dushmantha Chameera each taking one. Lucknow triumphed by 18 runs. For his outstanding batting performance, KL Rahul was named Player of the Match.

Big Question: Will Mumbai Indians qualify for the IPL playoffs 2022?

The Mumbai Indians are now in last place in the points table, having won none of their last six games. Cricket betting is favouring MI's victory in the upcoming matches. The Indians' net run rate is -1.048. To qualify for the playoffs, Mumbai must win all of its remaining matches by significant margins. Even if the Rohit Sharma-led team wins every game, they are unlikely to make the playoffs because they have the lowest net run rate in the league. This season, Mumbai's chances of entering the playoffs are little to none.

The simple explanation is that they must now win all of their remaining eight games. If they succeed – but first they must win – they will advance to the next round.

During the 2011 IPL, the team in fourth place qualified for the playoffs with 16 points, while the team in fourth place with 14 points lost out on the top four.

This was not the case in previous seasons of the eight-team IPL when a team with 14 points made it to the playoffs. This is unlikely to be the case this time, as a team would require 16 points to finish fourth in the 2011 points table.

So, in order to finish in the top four, MI will have to pull off an extraordinary miracle and go on an 8-match winning streak. MI's chances of qualifying from their current predicament are absurdly slim, and you wouldn't put your money on it.
