The Early Life of Tamica Goree
Tamica Goree was born in 1978. During that time Tamica became fascinated with basketball. She loved watching players like Michael Jordan on TV. This made her want to start playing basketball herself.
There were not many opportunities for women to play basketball where she lived so she did not get much chance to play as a child. Despite having no chance of playing at school, she managed to get a place on a team in college, but that only increased her desire for a professional career even more.
Her career as a Professional Basketball Player
In high school, Tamica started off playing for a junior varsity team, but she quickly realized that to achieve her dreams of becoming a basketball star, she would have to work hard in order to succeed. She went on to play college basketball for Oklahoma State University.
There, she averaged 5 points per game during her junior year and 7 points per game as a senior. After graduating from college in 2001, Tamica began pursuing coaching rather than playing professional basketball.
The Beginning of Her Coaching Career
Being a coach for an organization can be very difficult. This is because being a coach requires you to have knowledge of how to properly train players, how to develop good relationships with your players, and how to perform at your best on game day when there are hundreds of people watching you.
After many years as a successful basketball player, Tamica Goree became a women’s basketball coach. She became a coach in 1996 after she retired from playing professional basketball. She achieved success as a coach by working hard every day, never giving up on her dreams, and following her heart.
