My wife and I simply love driving. Whenever we have some free time, we pick up our car and get on the road. Hence, it is very rare for us to be at home on weekends. After clocking over a lakh kilometer and 7 long years in my sedan, it was time for me to change my car.
We had started our formal process of shortlisting potential cars as replacements. That was when my wife’s cousin along with his family came over to stay with us for a weekend.
On Saturday evening, we decided to go to a newly opened Dhaba outside the city which had gathered some good reviews. We were 2 adult couples and two young kids hence his Renault Kiger was a perfect ride for us.
The moment I stepped into the co-passenger’s seat I was blown over by the fantastic Renault Kiger features. Just about 5 minutes into the ride, I turned back and looked at my wife. Knowing what was going on in my mind, she winked in return. This meant that while we were conversing with our guests, our minds were checking out the Kiger’s interiors.
Halfway through the journey, I asked my wife’s cousin if I could drive the remaining distance. He immediately agreed and we swapped places. Kiger felt super smooth to drive.
While we continued to converse for the rest of the drive, I could notice the LED instrument cluster displaying all relevant information to me. I was especially impressed with the 20.32 cm touchscreen that sat snugly at the center of the dashboard. It was extremely easy to control everything from there inside the car.
The driver’s seat gave me a clear view of the outside world as if telling me that I was in command! The cousin then explained the host of storage spaces spread throughout the cabin in addition to the 405L of boot space. My wife was amazed with the huge 222 mm of legroom even after me sitting comfortably in the driver’s seat.
We liked the way the car glided over potholes and speed-breakers with ease without scratching the bottom. The cousin added that Kiger had a high ground clearance of 205 mm was one of his favorite Renault Kiger features. I instantly agreed because I had always felt my sedan scraping the bottom on almost every speed-breaker and me trying to avoid it by going sideways much to the chagrin of the oncoming traffic!
I was delighted to learn that the HR10 petrol engine of Kiger delivered an amazing mileage of 20.53 KMPL, much higher than our sedan ever did! And the best part was that the maintenance of Kiger came to just about 40 paisa per km, while the price started at just Rs. 5.84 lakh* (Ex. Showroom Delhi).
Finally, he told us that one of the most important Renault Kiger features was its safety. Kiger scored a 4-star on the Global NCAP rating making it one of the safest for families. This was over and above the 4-airbags, ABS & EBD, rear-view camera, and the front parking sensor that came with the Kiger.
In about an hour, we reached the Dhaba and had a sumptuous dinner there. When we started back, it was my wife’s turn to take over the steering wheel. For the next one hour, she drove the car and her brother kept enumerating the list of other Renault Kiger features.
By the time we reached home, my wife and I both were clear about our next step. Her cousin left for his place after breakfast, and we got all ready to visit the Renault showroom near our place.
Just when we were about to leave, my wife received a WhatsApp message. She opened it anticipating that her cousin would have said that they had reached safely. But when she opened the message, we both started laughing out loud!
The message had a Google pin of the nearest Renault Showroom, the website link of Renault (renault.co.in) and towards the end, it had a message that read “Go for Kiger’s MY22 edition because that would be the best decision you would take. Bye.”
And that is how we brought our Renault Kiger My22!
