What Is Extended Producer Responsibility?
Extended Producer Responsibility Authorization is provided for Brand Owners & Producers or importers for proper disposal and recycling of post-consumer e-waste under plastic waste management rules 2016. In the term EPR Registration, the EPR is Extended Producer Responsibility, which means an easy environmental approach to managing the lifecycle of a product which includes Prevention, Clean-up, and Recycling.
The EPR Guidelines offer a framework to improve the circular economy of plastic packaging waste. Reuse of rigid plastic packaging material has been mandated in the guidelines to reduce the use of fresh plastic material for packaging. Each manufactures, recycles, produces or producers of plastic products or waste in their gram panchayat should complete an EPR for Plastic Waste Management.
If a producer sells 100 metric tonnes of polymer packaging, it is held accountable for processing & disposing of hundred metric tonnes of post-consumer plastic waste. The PROs or Producer Responsibility Organization can likewise be given this task. The producer contact a PRO for the proper disposal and storage of plastic garbage. The EPR or Extended Producer Responsibility has contributed to the development of unique product and packaging solutions, resulting in less plastic waste because it has transferred a load of waste management from governments to these product producers or owners.
