Shine Exfoliating Cleanser - Su Skin

The microneedling device is used to stimulate tissue and improve skin appearance. The procedure is carried out in a safe and precise manner, with the use of a sterile micro-exfoliating component. The procedure usually takes 30 minutes to complete. Treatment time may vary depending on the treatment required and the anatomic site being treated. Without the pain of epidermal abrasion, this very safe and effective procedure can be used to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and stretch marks. Microneedling can also be used to treat acne scarring at lower depths. It is advised to have three to five treatment sessions.

Here are some ways on how to prepare client for the treatment:

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure for one month before and after treatment.
  • For one week prior to treatment, avoid retinoid and glycolic acid products.
  • If the client has a history of cold sores, notify your doctor. To prevent outbreaks, the doctor will give you valacyclovir as a preventative measure.
  • Ask the client if she / he has history of keloidal scarring, metal or skin allergies, or if she / he have recently taken Isotretinoin (Accutane).

What will I expect throughout the treatment?

The device is equipped with a sterile cartridge containing tiny micro-points. You will apply a small amount of topical gel to the client’s skin and determine the best treatment setting for the based on her/his specific needs. The pen will then be gently pressed against the skin while gliding in a single motion until the entire treatment area has been covered. Thousands of superficial microscopic channels are formed throughout the treatment area, stimulating collagen production.

This is what will client look like after treatment:

  • Their skin will be red and flushed immediately following the treatment, resembling a moderate sunburn. Skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch may occur in the treated area. The redness will fade quickly after the treatment, and the skin will be generally calmed within 24 hours exposure for one month before and after treatment.
  • If they have eye treatment, you may experience micro-bruising that lasts 3-4 days. This can be hidden with make-up.
  • Ibuprofen, Motrin, and Advil are all anti-inflammatory medications that should be avoided. These agents will alter the natural inflammatory process, which is essential for skin rejuvenation.
  • To reduce the risk of blistering, client should refrain from exercising for 24 to 48 hours after the procedure.
  • Client will notice skin dryness and flaking two days after your Microneedling procedure. This is due to an increase in skin cell turnover.

Post Procedure Skin Care

Here are some strategy on how to take care of your skin after the treatment:

  • Immediately following treatment, client will cleanse with a mild soap on a daily basis. Pat dry gently. Apply a light moisturizer if their skin feels dry or tight. For the first two days after treatment, they should avoid activities that will cause their skin to heat up, such as using a hot tub/Jacuzzi/sauna, taking a very hot shower, or engaging in strenuous exercise.
  • During the first few days, client will continue gentle cleansing and moisturizing. For one week, avoid scrubbing, rubbing, or using exfoliants. Apply sunscreen daily, and begin wearing makeup the day after treatment if necessary.
  • Keep the treated area clean during the first week of healing; avoid smoking, excessive alcohol intake, extreme exercise, sweating, swimming, or exposing skin to heat and sun.
  • Skin Care Products: For the first week or so after treatment, all of your skin care products should be non-irritating and non-clogging. Moisturizer should be applied once or twice daily. We also recommend using a vitamin C serum on a daily basis to aid in healing and to reduce pigmentation.
