The participation of MobiDev at CES 2018 yielded a number of observations that allowed to outline 8 tech trends that will be relevant for business throughout 2018 and beyond:
- The Internet of Things was undoubtedly the dominating sphere at the event, and it could be roughly divided into 2 sectors: smart home and industrial IoT. The latter was represented by the world's major players, who showcased their approaches to innovation that reimagines manufacturing, maintaining its integrity.
- Smart home was represented by standalone products as well as comprehensive closed ecosystems, which attempt to obtain a bigger share of the rapidly developing market.
- Car manufacturers were deeply involved in tech innovation, rivalling even traditional tech companies in that respect.
- All enterprises are interested in innovation, but the very notion is seen in a different way by different companies. A number of well-established companies shifted focus to occupy new market segments.
- Data Science and Machine Learning already bring business impact, being applied in modern B2B software suites for a variety of business domains.
- Blockchain is seen as a solution to security-based products, although compelling examples are yet to appear.
- Augmented and Virtual Reality are still mostly embraced by the entertainment sphere.
- The concept of smart city is rapidly developing, yet a convincing step is yet to be taken.
